Should i fear outsourcing?

Im still in highschool but i have been on planning to go into the computer feild for some time

specifically a Network Administrator

Recently i have been reading articles and watching tv and they have been saying more and more "Tech Jobs" are being outsourced to India and other countries so they can get cheap labor

i was wondering should i stay in the computer field
computers are my passion but i want to have a stable future

i just wanted some opinions

thanks

  • Network administrators will always have a place in the US. Most of the IT work that is being outsourced is software development, call centers, and some hosting.
  • We all should fear outsourcing.

The planned outsourcing of automotive parts has bankrupted Michigan. The upside, the Big 3 and their unions are now being hurt quite badly by the fact that when they quit using American suppliers, or forced them into bankruptcy, they lost their most loyal customer base. What goes around comes around... And now the removal of jobs to save profits is having a direct effect on the economy and all of our futures. Welcome to the new world order. Very rich stockholders and bosses, and very little else for the rest of us.

As for your specific question, a highly qualified, well educated (bachelors degree or better) Network Administrator will always have a job. If not in the private sector, than in government. Computers run the world in nearly every country.

Unless you go to work for the government, the only real job security one can hope for is a sound education and killer skill set. IT is definitely on the right path.

Go for it, just realize that the best of the best, and the best paid, will always be those that continue to educate themselves after they become gainfully employed.

Have fun and good luck in your future
