Whats does an auditor in a gov Org do plz help?

I work in a government job and accaisonally sent emails to my mum and check my personal emails a fair bit when im bored.. i am real nervous because I feel like i could get fired for this.. and heard someone say they track everything that happens at work... does an auditor of a government department look through all emails sent out and can they track what you do? Im kind of scared!
