What cities are around Milwaukie Oregon?
and what county is milwaukie in? What area do you recomend me to buy a nice big house?
Thank you
Milwaukie is a suburb about 10 miles south of Portland and it's in Clackamas county - which is a politically conservative county.
With the housing market in the dumps you can get a nice big house anywhere. Milwaukie is a little more established, not much new construction, so if you are looking for something with charm or a fixer upper, that is a great area. Just out side of Milwaukie in Clackamas (yes there is a Clackamas city in Clackamas County) there is lots of new developments in Happy Valley (a name of a large new suburb area). Those houses tend to be larger and well priced.
The places that are close to Milwaukie are Portland, Gresham, Sellwood, Brooklyn, Oregon City and Redland/Beavercreek.
Now if you are looking for good schools then you would want to be in the Lake Oswego District in Washington County or the Beaverton School District in Washington County. Lake Oswego is a pretty establish area, but tends to have people in that area that are loaded - so housing prices are high. But again the housing market is down so depending on your budget for home.
Lake O is about 10 miles south of Portland as well, but it's on the other side of the Willamette River (that's the river that splits Portland).
Beaverton is about 5 miles west of Portland. Beaverton has the best of both worlds, established neighborhoods like Cedar Hills, and new neighborhoods like Cedar Mill. The prices and the types of houses seem to have the most options in these parts.
Beaverton is about 40 minutes to Milwaukie, as there is no direct route. And Lake O is about 20 minutes to Milwaukie, because of no direct route.
So your best bets on nice big houses are Happy Valley and Beaverton (probably Cedar Mill). Go to RMLS.com and pick out communities that you are interested in and it will show houses and pictures in those areas.
I hope this helps!
