Am i qualified to become a pharmaceutical representative?
im 21. i just graduated with a bachelors in psychology and a major in women studies from an accredited university. i have no sales experience. i graduated with a 3.57 gpa. do you think that a company looking for a pharmaceutical representative would hire me?
please post your thoughts. ive done my research but would like to see what others think---hopefully someone within the industry.
Generally that is all the pharms look for.
Pharmaceutical reps are hires and fires. As in all sales jobs 80% or more of the people hired fail.
Just apply for the jobs as you see them, knock them dead with professionalism and communication and hope that you are one of the 20% that loves it and makes it.
Good luck Depends on the hiring phase the Pharm is in. I used to work at a recruiting firm that did Pharma recruiting, and I saw 2 different types of hiring practices.
Every once in a while they would hire everyone, even the pizza delivery guy with no diploma or GED (no offense to pizza delivery people) and people with medical type PHD's. Then they would go through extensive classes and training, and people would drop off like flies and at the end of the established time period, those left standing had jobs.
Then in the slow times they are a bit more picky. Do you have a degree. What type of experience do you have. What is your personality traits against the ideal traits for the jobs. Etc.
It just depends on the type of product being released and the gear up for it, or if they just need areas maintained.
